We recently collaborated with style and travel blogger extraordinaires, Justine and Alexander! What makes these two bloggers extremely unique is that Justine and Alexander are a blogging duo. This couple continues to be influential in the fashion world and we are thrilled to team up with them. Justine and Alexander recently hand picked their favourite his and hers must have items from Jean Machine! We are delighted with their picks and photo results!
What’s better than being a couple? A fashion couple! Since we both run our own style blogs and shoot each other’s pictures we are constantly bouncing outfit ideas off each other. Sometimes we even leave the house wearing the same thing! Is that creepy?
We love to share our life, adventures and style together so we created an Instagram that captures just that: @StyleTogether. Follow along for mushy photos and style advice – but for now, we’ve curated a his and hers style must-have list from Jean Machine’s wide selection of pieces. And remember, it’s never not OK to be matchy-matchy with your main squeeze. We approve!
After a hard days work, we sat down with Justine and Alexander for a little Q & A. Here’s what we learned about them.
- Describe your personal style:
J: My personal style is eclectic. I go by how I feel in the morning and that famous adage: that a woman wakes up and decides who she wants to be and then goes to her closet. I love mixing high and low, classical with a bit of avant-garde.
A: Similar to Justine, my style is always changing. If I had to describe my style in three words I’d say: classic, sporty and quiet luxury.
- What are your go-to fashion items in a pinch?
J: A big pair of face shields (aka sunglasses) and then something vintage. As in, rummaging through somebody else’s closet – often times Alex’s closet or my mom’s.
A: For me, always a watch. Then sunglasses and a plain crew neck t-shirt.
- The photos you feature regularly on your blog and Instagram are top-notch! Any tips you can share for taking the perfect selfie?
J: The perfect selfie is no small feat. I focus a lot on composition and how I want the overall mood. Then, make sure you get your pose right – know your angles. It’s OK to take a dozen before you get “the shot.”
A: I would add, to make sure you find a good light source and don’t overdo it in post editing. I tend to like softer glows around the face – not too hard, so easy on the contrast.
- If you could design your perfect pair of jeans, they’d look like…
J: Flared. Perfect butt. Dark Wash.
A: Medium wash, skinny, ripped knees and overall distressed.
- Is there a celebrity-style-maker you keep a close pulse on?
J: Victoria Beckham. She’s the one.
A: I don’t follow celebs; I follow fellow style bloggers for inspiration.
- How do you keep a steady pulse on trends, and are there any you wouldn’t touch?
J: I watch the streets and the runways. Trends I don’t touch? Ah, I’ll touch every trend at least once, just to see how it feels on.
A: Like Justine, I am constantly watching trends on social media and I also form my own opinions and predictions on trends from what I see at fashion weeks around the world.
